What can go in? What stays out? Discover our soilkind Do's & Don'ts and make more out of your kitchen waste
Vegetable & fruit waste
From apples to zucchini: soilkind loves all plant-based foods. They are easy and quick to process and enrich your compost with important nutrients and minerals. If you can, dispose of a lot of them in your kitchen composter. Take good care: You should cut fibrous foods such as banana and pineapple peels and spring onions into small pieces of around 5 cm beforehand. The cutting mechanism inside will thank you. Unfortunately, fruit stones are taboo. Your ultimate soilkind upgrade: Use coffee grounds to give your compost an additional boost.
Nuts & Shells
No tough nut for soilkind: All types of nuts can also be composted in soilkind and can be an important nutrient enrichment for your compost. However, only egg and shrimp shells can be disposed of, as they are soft and thin enough to be chopped up.
Cooked & Dairy Products
You can also dispose of cooked food in soilkind. However, this can affect your compost quality as the compost may become too greasy or too salty for your plants. Because: Compost is a natural source of nutrients for plants. Therefore, dispose of as little processed food as possible in soilkind, as it contains too much salt and fat. Too much of it can affect the quality of the compost. If your compost feels oily, dispose of it in the regular organic waste. Do you want to play it safe and compost? Then dispose of mainly a mix of fresh fruit and vegetable waste, coffee grounds + filters and soft shells in soilkind.
Composter Dont's
There are a few composter no-gos that either do not ensure good compost quality or that could damage the high-quality grinders. These include fruit stones of any size, oils, fats, cheese and other dairy products, kitchen paper, wood, alcohol, and sauces and soups. Too much salt is also not fun for soilkind.

Compost with care: Be careful with salt and fats.

Compost is a natural product. And even though we aim to compost as much food as possible in soilkind, nature is and remains our role model. What does that mean for you? Produce your compost with mindfulness and a lot of balance. Just as you need a balanced diet, so do your plants. Compost is their natural source of nutrients. Dispose of as little processed food as possible in your indoor composter, as it contains a lot of salt and fats. Too much of it can impair the quality of the compost.

With soilkind you always have compost at hand.

Are your plants well looked after right now? No problem, you can simply use your compost later - because the unique soilkind drying and hygienisation process means the compost lasts for up to two years and is easy to store. And don't worry, soilkind is always ready when you are: our automatic kitchen composter can be filled at any time.

Your plants will love soilkind.

Soilkind compost contains valuable nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus. This is superfood for your plants! Our tip: It is best to mix some soilkind into the soil when repotting your plants - this ensures healthy and strong plant growth. Alternatively, you can spread soilkind compost on larger areas, such as raised beds or lawns, and work it into the soil with a rake or small rake as needed. The general rule is: mix compost to soil 1:10.
