Nature meets high-tech.
This is how our electric kitchen composter works.
Not everyone has enough green space or green waste to compost in a traditional compost heap. Alternatives such as the Bokashi bucket or the worm box require special additives and a few weeks of time and attention to produce compost.
That’s why we developed soilkind.
soilkind is the fastest way to make more out of your organic waste. We took nature as our model and developed a unique 2-chamber technology in which the effort required for a natural composting process can be reduced to a minimum. Many foods naturally contain microorganisms and soilkind offers them optimal conditions to turn your kitchen waste into compost super quickly.
We achieve this thanks to our powerful grinder in chamber one and innovative sensors in chamber two, which optimally regulate ventilation, temperature and humidity. This means that these hard-working helpers can process your organic waste at lightning speed. Without any additives. The result? Real compost in just 48 hours. And not just shredded, dried organic waste, as many other competitors produce.
From prototype to fully automatic composter.
We at soilkind love composting. And we asked ourselves how we could make it even better. It all started with a conventional, fully automatic food processor: It could stir, chop and heat. Important components for stimulating the natural composting process.
But the goal was still a long way off. In the next step, we therefore installed a small water pump, a humidity sensor and a mini fan that provided fresh air and heat exchange. The idea behind it: to implement the principle of a large-scale composting plant in a functioning minimal concept.
And we succeeded! After years of testing, we continued to improve our prototype. The result? An electric kitchen composter that does exactly what nature has shown us so inimitably up to now. You can get all of this with soilkind in digital form and in your own four walls.
Step by step:
the soilkind way to the finest, homemade compost.
01 Start
Easy to clean and just as easy to use. A large (15x15 cm) easily accessible opening allows up to 10 liters of waste to be added during the 48-hour composting process. Good to know: All parts that come into contact with organic waste are removable, waterproof and easy to clean.
02 Chopping & Drying
Collecting, shredding and drying kitchen waste. With a unique grinding mechanism, soilkind processes your kitchen waste and prepares it for later composting. The excess water is removed from the waste. No one like soilkind! Our unique selling point among composters allows you to add new waste at any time, even when soilkind is in drying or composting mode. No interruptions and no change in your compost quality. This is unique on the market! Compost with care: Just like on a compost heap, you don't have to dispose of all types of organic waste in soilkind for real compost. Find out here exactly what you can dispose of to make real compost.
03 Composting
Super quiet and particularly fast. As soon as the kitchen waste is prepared for composting, soilkind automatically transports it to the lower composting chamber. When enough material has been collected there for one composting process, the composting process starts fully automatically. Over the next 48 hours, all of the material is transformed into fresh, ready-to-use compost, which you can cleanly and easily remove from the compost bin.
04 Sensors
Every second is precise. Our innovative sensors measure and regulate temperature, humidity, ventilation and compost quantity. In this way, soilkind guarantees optimal metabolic conditions for the microorganisms and ensures the fastest possible composting.
05 Water as a resource
soilkind works holistically and sustainably. Of course, water is therefore a valuable and important resource for us. During composting, soilkind extracts the water from the waste and intelligently reuses it in a closed cycle. This saves resources and is efficient. If a lot of waste with a very high water content is composted, such as tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce, it is possible that an excess of water is collected in the tank. You can use this water to water your plants and simply take it out of the water tank.
06 Heat exchanger
soilkind uses a heat exchanger to extract a large part of the waste heat from the exhaust air and reuse it for the pre-treatment of organic waste. This also makes use of the heat generated during composting. A win-win-win situation, as it saves energy, dehumidifies the exhaust air and reduces odors.
07 Odor filtration
Goodbye, smelly organic waste! Our multi-stage filter, efficient dehumidification and unique negative pressure technology only release clean exhaust air. Special activated carbon filters efficiently remove all unpleasant odors.
08 Real compost
Quality and quantity: Instead of simply shredding and drying organic waste, the innovative soilkind technology creates optimal conditions so that your kitchen waste becomes real, fresh compost. So you can be sure that your homemade compost is really doing something good for your plants!
Organic waste in landfills causes significant damage to our climate.
Did you know that improperly disposed organic waste is dangerous for the climate?
Organic waste is often disposed of in landfills worldwide, even in Europe and Germany, where the figure is still 18% and 9% respectively. There it is decomposed anaerobically (due to the lack of oxygen) and produces methane. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas - it warms the earth about 28 times more than carbon dioxide over a 100-year time scale and is over 80 times more harmful in 20 years.
Worldwide, organic waste accounts for around 50% of the total waste volume, which is why incorrect disposal causes significant damage to the climate.
This is one of the reasons why we want to bring about a change in the way you deal with organic waste on a daily basis. Make an active contribution to climate protection with every composting cycle.
